Wushu West is very proud of the accomplishments of it’s students.  The purpose of this page is to highlight some of the exemplary work and achievements of our past and present students. It is their hard work and perseverance that makes teaching wushu a joy and gives us great pride when we see them succeed in their various endeavors.

Collin Lee

Collin Lee has approached his training with iron discipline and high spirits, making rapid advances in his martial skills and knowledge. He is flexible, agile, ambidextrous and has won numerous gold medals in both wushu as well as traditional Chinese martial arts.   Collin has spent his summers training intensively in Beijing to further develop his skills, participating in regional, national and international tournament competitions.  In 2007 Collin won a place on the A-Team of the U.S. National Wushu Team and represented the United States at the World Wushu Games in Beijing, China.

Shahaub has spent extensive time training with the Beijing Wushu Team at Shi Cha Hai Sports School for months at a time.  He was selected as an athlete to train with the Iranian Wushu Team and in 2008 won a gold medal for Tong Bei Quan at the 3rd International World Traditional Wushu Games in China.  Shahaub is currently working on his Master’s Degree in Film where he hopes to utilize some of his experience with martial arts.

Stephanie has trained hard for many years both at Wushu West and Beijing, China.  She has won many medals in competitions and in 2005 earned a spot on the C-Team for the U.S. Wushu Team.  Not satisfied with her results, she came back in 2009 and secured a spot on the A-Team.

Jennifer and Cheri Haight

The Haight sisters trained at Wushu West from 1997 to 2002. Their ability to learn quickly and their natural physical abilities, combined with their many years of hard work, brought them considerable success in the national wushu competitive circuit. In 2003 they landed the lead roles in Cirque Du Soleil’s production of “Ka” at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mark Moran

Mark started his wushu career at Wushu West in 1995 and has placed well in National competition over the years. In 2000 he was the Western Regional Grand Champion at the U.C. Berkeley Chinese Martial Arts Tournament and won 2nd place in Nanquan at the U.S. Nationals.  Having worked for movie star, Jet Li, for over 10 years, Mark has been able to travel and live extensively in China, broadening his understanding of wushu while training next to some of the best athletes in the world.  Mark currently lives in Xi’an, China where he continues to train diligently in Chinese martial arts.

Pierre is an inspiration to everyone at Wushu West. In 2007 he shed 30lbs and has become one of the most active and driven students in the school.  He continually pushes himself and others that can keep up to become a better martial artists.
